Q.

How long will it take to complete the nationwide price comparison?

A.

In our experience it should take no longer than 48 hours to receive the offers from the franchised dealers and independent specialist. We will then send you a confirmation E-Mail of the 'Best Price' we have received.

Q.

Why do you not offer instant online valuations?

A.

We are a price comparison website so unlike most of the online car buying services we DO NOT buy cars for our own dealership groups, car supermarkets, forecourts or auction facilities. We offer our customers the unique opportunity to compare nationwide prices from the UK’s franchised dealers and independent specialists guaranteeing the best price for your prestige car anywhere in the UK.

Q.

How will I receive the funds for my car?

A.

Once you have agreed to sell your car the purchasing dealer will then contact you to arrange payment and collection. Upon inspection and subject to there being no discrepancies between your cars condition and your online appraisal the dealer will arrange payment via a secure same day CHAPS payment direct into your bank account.

Q.

How long will I have to wait for the funds to clear?

A.

With the modern day fast track payments services offered by the banks and building societies payment should clear instantly with the occasional exception. However, no car will leave the custody of the owner until the funds have cleared in full.

Q.

Will I be charged by VALUETHECAR.CO.UK?

A.

No. The service we provide is completely free of charge to our customers.

Q.

Will I be charged by the dealer for the fund transaction?

A.

No. This is part of our agreement with the dealer and forms the terms and conditions of sale between us and the purchasing dealer.

Q.

Will I be charged by the dealer for collecting my car?

A.

No. Collection is free of charge and is arranged between you and the dealer at a pre-determined time and place that is convenient for both yourself and the dealer.

Q.

What if I have outstanding finance on my car?

A.

Any outstanding finance can be cleared by the purchasing dealer. Due to data protection laws you may have to obtain a settlement figure in writing in order for the dealer to clear the outstanding finance. If your car is worth more than you owe on finance the dealer will pay the balance into your bank account at the time of collection.

Q.

What documentation will I need on the day of collection?

A.

In order for the purchasing dealer to complete the transaction the following documentation will be required on the day of collection:

  • V5 Registration Document.
  • Valid MOT Certificate.
  • Valid TAX Disc. (Unless expired)
  • All keys including any spares.
  • Service Book and Vehicle Pack. (Including Manuals & Handbooks)

Q.

What if I have a personalised number plate on my car?

A.

We can help you to remove the registration number from your car and place it on a retention certificate for a period of 1, 2 or 3 years. Once on the retention certificate the registration number can be allocated to another vehicle free of charge within the valid term of the certificate. The application to retain your registration number can be processed over the counter at your local DVLA office or by post to the DVLA in Swansea.

PLEASE NOTE – Payment for any vehicle can only be processed by the purchasing dealer once the replacement V5 registration document has been issued by the DVLA.
